Hello everyone! As you may or may not know, I am currently enrolled on the Royal Academy of Music’s new Advanced Diploma course, a flexible post-master’s degree with no academic structure, centered on a large-scale final event.
My event will be a double concert for guitar, violin and orchestra, featuring solo, chamber music, and orchestra works, and conceived as an homage to the works of Niccolò Paganini and Leo Brouwer. More details about this will be published soon, but in the meantime – my collaborators have finally been announced!
Joining me on the violin will be the lovely Laura Custódio, a great Spain-born violinist based in London, who will play with me a duo work for violin and guitar, as well as a double concerto for guitar, violin and orchestra!
Our conductor will be the wonderful Victor Jacob from France, who has actually finished his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, but will be coming back from Paris especially in order to work with us in this event!
And our commission, a short piece for violin and guitar, will be written by one of Academy’s most successful composition students in recent years, Rubens Askenar. Originally from the Canary Islands of Spain, Rubens is currently enrolled on a PhD course at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
