I didn’t know if it was possible – as a matter of fact, a number of times I thought it would not be possible – but in the end, it turns out it happened… so it must have been possible! I can now officially say: I have completed my master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London at the same time as my Master of Music the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, Germany!

They even gave me a DipRAM and Distinction of the Royal Academy of Music (“for an exceptional final recital or professional portfolio”), as well as unanimously the highest possible mark (1.0) at my final recital in Germany!

This has been some of the most amazing time of my life, some of the most adventurous and difficult, but oh, how much it was worth it! I might have not always known where I would sleep the next day, I might have struggled and wasted countless hours of sleep on planes between Germany and the UK, I might have had to obtain literally tens of scholarships over the course of the past two and a half years and still be on the brink of getting kicked out of the Academy because of not having paid my tuition on time, I might have had to sell most of my old guitars – but in the end, what an adventure! What a crazy, beautiful adventure!

Studying with the likes of Joaquín Clerch, David Russell, Fabio Zanon at the same time, experiencing how teaching is done at one of the world’s oldest music universities, getting to know a new country, understanding the inner workings of one of the world’s truly global cities, and just generally broadening my horizons in such sudden fashion – these truly are life experiences money can’t buy!

Here is a big, big thank you to everyone that has made this possible! Every person who has so kindly hosted me in London, everyone who believed in me and everyone who helped finance my studies during these crazy 24 months! I could not have done this without you, and looking back on how it all went, I’ll have you know, I would not have done it without you, either! Rock on and on to the next adventure!
